Betty Alene Wilson Broyles, 84, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 3, 2020, at Bethesda Health Care, in Cookeville.
Betty, or Grandnannie as she was affectionately known by her family and any child who knew her, was born Sept. 15, 1936, in Sparta, to Johnnie Wilson and Gladys Sapp Wilson.
Her work career spanned from the garment factories to her favorite job working alongside her husband at Potter’s Ace Hardware.
She was a member of West Sparta Church of Christ
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joe Broyles, and sisters, Evelyn Myers and Myrna Faye Matthews.
Surviving family members include her son, David Broyles and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Jessica Goodwin and husband Keith, Bryant Broyles, Saige Johnson, Brannon Randolph and wife Eryka; great-grandchildren, Dylan Goodwin, Wyatt Goodwin, Jayce Goodwin, Gage Randolph, Avalei Randolph; brother, John David Wilson and wife Dorothy; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Dec. 5, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Derrick Coble officiated.
Mike Broyles, John Allen Wilson, Phillip Broyles, Jerry Broyles, Bryant Broyles, and Dylan Goodwin served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Wyatt Goodwin, Jayce Goodwin, and Gage Randolph.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
