Bon Air Mountain Community Church donates to WCHS

Money to be used for student lunches

Posted

Federal funding to provide White County High School students with free lunch expired this year, so students who would have otherwise qualified for free or reduced lunch must pay for their meals.

WCHS food service manager Amy Kincer and White County School System food service director Tonya Savage have prioritized that WCHS students receive a hot meal daily, regardless of their lunch account balance. In addition, some students have problems keeping their accounts positive, and some have accounts in arrears.

Bon Air Mountain Community Church heard of a need and stepped forward to help students with negative accounts. Pastor Rodney Richie and his congregation decided to donate to help students who needed a little help. Pastor Richie presented Kincer and WCHS principal Greg Wilson with a check for $2,500. A donation of this amount helps multiple students pay for meals that they could not pay for previously.

Thank you to Bon Air Mountain Community Church for your support and for loving kids.
