Cadets of the Month

On March 20, 2024, the Cadets from the Alpha Company single handedly won the WCHS JROTC Cadet of the Month.

Cadet Corporal Rebecca-Lynn Phipps won the monthly contest for the First-Year Cadet, while Cadet Thomas Brewington won the award for the Second Year Cadet.

 Cadet Phipps is a competing member of the JROTC Raider Team and an active member of the WCHS Varsity Archery Team. In addition, she serves as a Team Leader in Alpha Company, and, according to Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Johnson, Cadet Phipps stands out among her peers due to her willingness to strive for excellence in everything she does.

As for Cadet Brewington, the March competition marks the second time during the 2023-24 school year that he has won Cadet of the Month, having won the honor in September 2023 as well. Cadet Brewington serves as the Platoon Sergeant in Alpha Company and is the Co-Captain of the JROTC Color Guard, is active on the JROTC Raider Team and Rifle Marksmanship Team and is currently training to participate in the Mountain Man Memorial March to be held in April.

“The instructors are proud of these outstanding Cadets as they set the standard of excellence and will be competing for the Cadet of the Year at the end of April,” LTC Johnson said about the cadets selected by the Cadet Board as this month’s honorees.
