Cassville Elementary students are spotlighted at meeting

Cassville Elementary School hosted the White County Board of Education’s January 2021 meeting and, while the board members were on campus, took the opportunity to show them a brief video highlighting the work that is done in the classrooms every day as well as spotlighting seven students.

“Zane is an all-around great student. He is a friend to all his classmates and loves helping others,” the school’s PreK teachers said about Zane Campbell, the student they chose to spotlight. “He will go out of his way to make sure everyone is taken care of. Zane is a natural leader and a great example to his peers.”

Kindergarten teacher Amanda Stockton presented Fern Jones to the board via a video presentation.

“Fern has such a sweet and gentle spirit. She happily accepts diversity in a multitude of ways. She is well behaved in any situation and adapts easily when routines and procedures are disrupted,” Stockton said. “She is kind and loving to everyone without any regard to their outward appearance, status, or personality. If everyone approached things the way Fern does, the world would be a much better place.”

“Ashtin is certainly unique,” first grader Ashtin Cripps was also highlighted. “His nickname is Hot Rod due to his bubbly personality. His determination is something to be admired for. Everyone is drawn to Ashtin when he enters the room. Everyone wants to be his favorite.”

Jayce Sutton, a second-grade student, was spotlighted for his positive attitude and peer interactions. “Jayce is always happy, with a big smile on his face. During class, he always tells his classmates that he likes their ideas/thoughts. He never has a hateful thing to say about anyone. In fact, if he sees someone is sad, he is the first person to go try to cheer them up. He is an outstanding child.”

“Addison is an outstanding young lady. She works hard in the classroom and does her best on any assignment she’s given,” third grade teacher Rebecca Clayton said about Addison Lane. “She’s kind to her classmates and willing to lend a hand if someone needs help. She excels due to her hard work and is a terrific example of what a great student should be.”

“Faith Glenn is a friend to everyone. She is always willing to help anyone in need, adults and students alike,” fourth grade teachers said, chosing a student who makes it a point to go out of her way to be a positive part of each day. “She has a very compassionate and patient personality.”

Fifth grade teacher Sharon Sherman spoke about Kolt Norris.

“Kolt is an amazing young man.  He is always willing to lend a helping hand to his teachers as well as his classmates.  He always has a smile on his face and a positive attitude.  He gives a 100 percent in all that he does. He is often heard encouraging his classmates,” she said. “It is truly a blessing having Kolt as a Cassville Bee.”

Students were not in attendance at the meeting because of COVID-19 restrictions for social distancing, but Principal Juli Johnson told the board members she would be proud to present them with their awards during the school day.
