With holiday shopping season ready to begin, Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce has found a unique way to encourage shoppers to visit the variety of businesses in the area.

“Beginning Thursday, Nov. 19, shoppers can register to win a Jackson kayak while enjoying the totally unique shopping experience that Sparta offers,” Marvin Bullock, Chamber president said, and added that the kayak will be on display in the window of the Lofts of Sparta, located at 33 W. Bockman Way, throughout the duration of the contest.

Each of the following business will have entry ballots that can be filled out at their counters and deposited in registration boxes beginning Nov. 19. All of these businesses have committed to being open, as well as their regular hours, on both Black Friday (Nov. 27) and Small Business Saturday (Nov. 28):

  • Fragrant Mushroom Gallery
  • Northfield Vineyards
  • Mad Raven Coffee & Books
  • Xceed Limitz
  • Bargain Supply Warehouse
  • Scents & Suds Boutique
  • Happy Trails Brewing Company
  • The Lofts of Sparta
  • Calfkiller Brewing Company
  • Synergy Herbal Works
  • JW’s Healthy Hemp
  • The Hitch Outfitters
  • Welcome Home
  • Jongee’s Fine Gifts and Furnishings
  • Hip Chicks

Bullock explained shoppers can only register once per day at each location, but they are welcome to register at multiple, or even all, locations every day Nov. 19-Dec. 17. Participants must be 18 years old. The winner does not have to be present at the drawing, which will be 2 p.m., Dec. 18, at The Expositor. Participating businesses can also be found by accessing the ShopSpartaFirst.com website.

Bullock also said that, while the Jackson kayak is the grand prize, there will be other prizes from area merchants that will be awarded on Dec. 18 as well.

“We want to encourage people to get out and visit our boutiques, galleries, and shops here in Sparta, Tennessee, every day, but especially on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday,” Bullock said. “We have so much to offer right here in White County, and we want to be sure everyone has a chance to enjoy this holiday season.”
