Christopher Leon Heady, 62, of Sparta, better known as “Chris” to family and friends, passed away Oct. 15, 2021, at his residence.

Chris was born Dec. 23, 1958, in Cookeville.

He retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard after 20 years of service and had a career with Vinson Home Improvement that spanned over 40 years. He enjoyed working in his shop and helping his son, Nathan, work on cars. When he was not working or in the shop, he could be found fishing with Bryan Gilbert.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Heady Roberts; brothers, Marvin Wayne Heady, Robert Michael Heady; and sister, Sandra Heady Price.

Survivors include his two sons Nathan (Kelli) Heady, of Sparta, Matthew Heady, of Akron, Ohio; daughter, Christy Heady Bradshaw, of Baxter; brother, Gary Lee (Linda) Heady, of Sparta; sister, Sharon (Ralph) Jolly, of Sparta; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was 1 p.m., Oct. 19, 2021, at Hunter Funeral Home. Burial, with full military honors by the Veteran's Honor Guard, followed in Roberts Cemetery.            

Terry Vinson, Bryan Gilbert, Billy Zile, Timothy Bumbalough, Donnie Hall, and Mike Hall served as pallbearers
