Daughters of the Confederacy hold annual awards banquet

 Members of Captain Sally Tompkins 2123 held their annual awards banquet on June 11, at Nick’s Restaurant, in Cookeville.

Registrar Pam Wood presented awards to members Kathleen Looper Bilbrey, Patricia Butler, Collette Dishman, Julia Elmore, and Theresa Dover Loftis for 10 years of service.  Members with 20 years of service were  Dorthea Brodhag, Edith Parman and Pamela Wood.

A Homeland Defense Medal was awarded to Jackie Junior Loftis for his honorable service during the Vietnam Conflict.  It was presented to his son, Jim Loftis, by President Theresa Dover Loftis and Recorder of Military Service Kristie Welch.

A Historical Program was presented by Barbara Parson, Chapter Historian, on “Documenting Black Confederates’ Service.”  Donna Hamilton was the winner of  a handmade basket for the most correct answers during the Catechism quiz, given by Betty Sue Ledbetter, 2nd Vice President.
