David Merriman, of Doyle, passed away on his 76th birthday, Nov. 27, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.
David was born Nov. 27, 1948, in Malden, Missouri. He had a work career that spanned from Fred’s to a few factory jobs, including Thomas Industries, to his retirement years at the Convenience Center in front of BASF. David was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a classic car enthusiast, especially his 1963 Impala. He was a longtime member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Maxine McCallister Kirby and stepfather Bill; father, Carl L. Merriman and stepmother, Geraldine; sister, Connie Kirby; and brother, Don Easterwood.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Merriman; three children and their spouses, Casey and Carolyn Merriman, Kristy and Jack Imes, Jeff and Elena Merriman; grandchildren, Matthew Case and Kimberley Faberman, Logan Merriman and wife Alex, Austin Rector and wife Courtney, Seth Merriman, Cody Merriman, Brittany Parkhurst, Hannah Merriman, and Jeffery Merriman Jr.; great-grandchildren, Harlen Faberman, Leo Merriman, Gracie Merriman, Zoey Fuqua, Beneka Parkhurst, Charliegh White, Emma Case, Kelee Faberman, Amberly Rector, Kane Rector, and Jaycee Bogard; sister, Theresa Wilson; brothers, Danny Easterwood, Robert Easterwood, Warren Dale Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was noon, Nov. 30, 2024, at Hunter Funeral Home, with military honors by the Veterans' Honor Guard. Burial followed in Skurlock Cemetery. Robert Haynes officiated.
Matthew Case, Logan Merriman, Austin Rector, Seth Merriman, Cody Merriman and Harlen Faberman served as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
