Donald “Donnie” Hillis, 83, passed Oct. 13, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Hillis was born Feb. 12, 1937, in the Rocky River community, to Homer Cleveland Hillis and Geneva Johnson Hillis.
He was retired from Dunn Steel/Acumet Global and a member of Shockley Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ida Madewell Hillis, who passed away in 2001, and a sister, Glenna Kay Dean.
Survivors include his daughters, Tammie (Ronnie) Clendenon, Jeanne (Les) Ottinger; brothers, Stanley (Faye Huddleston) Hillis, Douglas (Bonnie) Hillis, James Hugh (Charlotte) Hillis, Marty (Zeda) Hillis; sisters, Norma Sue Grissom, Sharon Shockley; grandchildren, Meleah (Trevor) Carlyle, Hayden (Ashley) Ottinger, Cameron (Morgan) Clendenon, Hannah (Trey) Lane; and great-grandson, Barrett Clendenon.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Oct. 16, 2020, at Layne Funeral Home Chapel, in Spencer, with burial in Shockley Cemetery. Bro. R.C. Christian, Bro. William Shockley, and Bro. Kelly Dishman will officiate. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., Oct. 15, and 10 a.m.-2 .m., Oct. 16, at the funeral home.
