From Greg Wilson, principal of White County High School:

For those who attended White County High School in the early 1980s, there was a familiar face in the gym and on the football sidelines. Everyone knew him as "Coach" or "Coach Farley."

Coach Donnie Farley is a Sparta native who grew up in the Macedonia community. He attended White County schools and graduated from WCHS, in 1960. Farley played four years for the Warriors before receiving a scholarship to Tennessee Tech University to play football.

Upon graduation, he moved to Dyersburg and later to Livingston to coach football. Then, in the fall of 1980, he got the call to go "home" and coach the Warriors. During his six-year tenure, he had a combined record of 36-31. Coach Farley led the Warriors to a 15-14 win over rival Cookeville in his second season. In the 1982 campaign, he led the Warriors to a District Championship and advanced to the second round of the TSSAA playoffs.

Coach Farley has coached several players who went on to play college football. That list includes David Culley, Scott Anderson, Jimmy Maynard, Danny McCoin, Mike Johnson, Tim Richardson, and Brent Farley.

On Friday nights and other game nights, you will see Coach Farley in the stands or on the fence cheering on his beloved Warriors. Thank you, Coach Farley, for all the hours you gave to your teams over your coaching career.

It is with pleasure that we announce the WCHS Homecoming 2021  Grand Marshal of the Homecoming Parade - Coach Donnie Farley, Class of 1960.
