Elizabeth Jeanetta Rouse, 88, of Sparta, transitioned from this earthly life, on Nov. 6, 2021, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

The oldest of eight children, Elizabeth was born Oct. 5, 1933, in Sparta, to James and Sara Leftwich.

Elizabeth accepted Christ in her early 20s and became a member of the Church of Christ where she and her late husband, Charles, remained faithful servants throughout their lives. She had a true servant's heart, devoted to caring for those in need, mentoring young women and children, and spreading the Word of God. Elizabeth was a gracious hostess who loved sharing her beautiful home where her flower garden was the centerpiece. To know her was to know how much she loved flowers and working in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Foster Rouse; her parents, James and Sara Leftwich; and siblings, Jeff Leftwich, Joyce (Sammy Sr.) Dibrell, Walter Thomas "Tommy,” Johnny Edward, and Richard Don Leftwich.

She is survived by her siblings, James Clay (Susie) Sr., Glenn Dale (Connie) Leftwich, of Sparta; sisters-in-law, Wenda Leftwich, Pamela Lewis, both of Sparta, Marjorie (BabySister) Leftwich, of Evansville, Indiana, Linda Sue McReynolds, of Nashville; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephew as well as her church family and dear friends.

She will be missed.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m., Nov. 14, 2021, at Oakwood Church of Christ, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30-3 p.m., Nov. 14, at the church.
