A familiar face will be seen in the White County High School Homecoming Parade 2021 as a former coach has been named grand marshal.

Donnie Farley, White County native and former Warrior football coach, has been a fixture in local sports for several decades. Now, he will take his rightful place among other notable homecoming parade grand marshals.

The parade, whose theme is “There’s no place like a White County High School homecoming,” will begin at 6 p.m., Sept. 30, with the starting point at WCHS, up Breeding Drive, right on North Spring Street, right on Bockman Way, right on Churchill Drive, and then ending in the visitors’ parking lot at WCHS.

Farley graduated from White County High School, in 1960, after playing four years of Warrior football. He then moved on to Tennessee Tech after receiving a scholarship and continued his football career.

After Tennessee Tech, Farley moved to Dyersburg and later to Livingston to follow his dream as a football coach. However, in the fall of 1980, he returned to his alma mater to coach the Warriors.

According to information from White County High School principal Greg Wilson, Farley has coached several players who went on to play college football: David Culley, Scott Anderson, Jimmy Maynard, Danny McCoin, Mike Johnson, Tim Richardson, and Brent Farley.

“On Friday nights and other game nights, you will see Coach Farley in the stands or on the fence, cheering on his beloved Warriors,” Wilson said. “Thank you, Coach Farley, for all the hours you gave to your teams over your coaching career.”
