Farmers’ Market now open

Posted

The Sparta/White County Farmers’ Market is officially open at Metcalf Park, in Sparta.  The market is open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday throughout the growing season.  Most vendors are in place early in the morning, and the market is open until noon.  Buyers need to get there early for best selections.

Although crops for this year are later than normal, most vegetable producers have reported that crops are coming along, and they expect to soon have a variety of vegetables that are ready for the market.

All local gardeners and producers are encouraged to participate in the market.  There are no fees to sell at the market.  To sell at the market, all vendors must acquire a permit through the City of Sparta.

This market is a joint effort between the City of Sparta, White County, UT Extension, and local producers.

Metcalf Park is located downtown, off South Church Street, behind the UT Extension office.

For further information, contact the UT Extension Office, at (931) 836-3348.
