Helen Southard Lowery, 92, of Sparta, passed away peacefully, on April 16, 2022, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

She was the widow of Carl Denney Lowery, who also passed away the Saturday before Easter 15 years ago, on April 7, 2007.

Mrs. Helen was born and raised in Sparta and graduated from White County High School where she was an avid basketball player.  She was a member of Athens Church of Christ, in Sparta. She enjoyed fellowship as part of “Prime Time” at Findlay Church of Church, in Sparta. Mrs. Helen loved helping people and was a homemaker and caregiver for many that have gone on before her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed the holidays and loved to celebrate any occasion to have a house full of family sharing love, laughter, good stories, and great food.

Mrs. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, William Wayne Southard and Ella Floyd Southard; husband, Carl Denny Lowery; daughters, Peggy Elaine Tallent, Susan “Susie” Ann Lowery; sister, Fronnie Southard Waller and husband Earnest “Nooney” Waller; and brothers, Joe Dow Southard and wife Retha, Wayne Hill Southard and wife Frances, and John Southard.
