Ina Jo Adcock Prater was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Sparta, Tennessee, and, while in Chicago, Illinois, went to be with her Lord, on April 27, 2023

Ina grew up in the Indian Mound Community. She was the daughter of the Erby and Elizabeth Adcock, who preceded her in death.

Ina met her husband, Arthur, at the 1949 White County Fair, and they were married Dec. 23, 1950.  Ina went on to earn her GED following the birth of her last child.  Ina was a homemaker and later a receptionist for the late Dr. William Trinkaus, a role she very much enjoyed.

Ina loved her adopted hometown of Eastpointe, Michigan. She enjoyed walking the neighborhood and chatting with neighbors.  Ina even received an award from the City of Eastpointe for picking up litter and keeping Eastpointe a beautiful place to live.

Her family fondly remembers her as an avid thrifter and reader, with an appreciation of flowers and fondness of pets.

In addition to her parents, Ina was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Prater; brother, Alton (Verdie Lee) Adcock; and sister, Rowena Adcock.

Survivors include her children, Carol (Allan) Luc, of Chicago, Illinois, Susan (Stephen) House, of Eloy Arizona, Troy Prater, of Eastpointe, Michigan, and Bret (Jolyn) Prater, of Cookeville, Tennessee;      Ina is also survived by her grandchildren, Arthur House and Harrison House, both of Arizona City, Arizona.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m., June 8, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel, in Smithville, Tennessee. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., June 8, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Doug Benningfield will officiate. Graveside service will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery.
