James Thomas Webb, affectionately known as "Bear Track,” 92, of Sparta, passed away May 20, 2022, at TriStar NorthCrest, in Springfield.
Bear Track was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Sparta, to Roy Webb and Jesse Francis Cummings Webb.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Korea. Bear Track was a retired shirt factory worker. He was remembered as a standout high school football player, and he loved to take long walks twice a day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Emmaline Webb; grandson, Josh Webb; sister, Jessie Mae Culley, Nelda Pincheon; and special friend, Mary Christine Cummings.
Surviving family members include his stepdaughter, Dorthy Cullom; nieces, Debra Brewington, Susie Robinson;
nephews, Samuel "Toby" Culley, David Culley, Ulysses Grant Culley, Jeffery "Shotgun" Culley; grandchild, Quonisha Webb; and great-grandchildren, Devin Lawera and Ayrianna Webb.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., May 27, 2022, at Hunter Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard, will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m., May 27, at the funeral home.
Samuel "Toby" Culley, Tyree Culley, Chris Brewington, Braden Brewington, James Henry Dibrell, Trenton Brewington, Trey Brewington, and Lynn Brewington will serve as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
