James Charlie “J.C.” Donelson Sr., 92, passed away June 14, 2022, at Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital, in Smithville.
Mr. Donelson was born Sept. 30, 1929, in White County, to Arvie Martin Donelson and Dolly Jane Hutchings Donelson.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and later as a dairyman, farmer, and logger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jean Seabolt Donelson; two daughters, Wilma Yott, Wendy Whiteaker; and one sister, Roberta Rankhorn.
He is survived by his son, James C. Donelson Jr. (Darlene); daughter Karen Young (Tim); grandchildren, Jessie Anderson (Megan), Kenny Yott (Rachel), Derek Yott, James Hatfield, Jake Hatfield, Chad Davis, Amy Walters; several great grandchildren; sisters, Reba Hutchings, Treva Driver; and one brother, Joe Thomas Donelson.
According to his wishes, he chose direct cremation, and no memorial service will be held.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
