Jean Virginia Ferrell, 85, of Sparta, while at her home, went home to be with the Lord, on Jan. 7, 2021.
Mrs. Ferrell was born Dec. 26, 1935, in Chattanooga, the daughter of George W. Hughes and Dora Francis Hughes.
She was a sectionizer for Donald Duck, located in Lake Wales, Florida, as well as a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James D. Ferrell; daughter, Polly V. Strickland; and a brother, Chip Hughes.
Survivors include two sons, Oliver A. Ferrell, of Sparta, Jimmy Ferrell (Linda), of the Cassville community, of White County; daughter, Debra Marcum (Jimmy), of Delbarton, West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Angie (Glenn/Cougar) Taylor, Jamie Marcum, Nancy (Eric) Conley, Amanda Ferrell, Heather Williams, Laura McCellan, Addison (Haleigh) Marcum; and four great-grandchildren, Skylea Taylor, Cross Taylor, Saylor Coleman, Elian Conley, Sierra Williams, Cheyanne Williams.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pearl Presley for helping take such good care of Mrs. Ferrell.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Jan. 11, 2021, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial at the Ferrell residence, on Toddtown Road, in Sparta. Arliss Norris will officiate. The family will welcome friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Jan. 11, at the funeral home.
Due to COVID-19, masks are required to be worn inside Oak Lawn Funeral Home at all times.
