Jo Ann Flatt Black, 76, of Sparta, passed away Oct. 8, 2020, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Mrs. Black was born March 12, 1944, in Cookeville, to Eugene Flatt and Anna Lee Slagle Flatt.
She was a retired nurse of more than 20 years of service with Master's Healthcare, in Algood. Mrs. Black loved to travel and was a Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiast. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Haskell Lee "Sonny" Black, who died Aug. 26, 2004; an infant son, Michael Black; and stepfather Wiley Brewington.
Surviving family members include her two daughters and their spouses, Cathy and Brent Copeland, of Walling, Cortney and Bruce Savage, of Quebeck; grandchildren, Hunter Copeland, Laney Copeland, Rylee Savage, Madlyn Savage; and sister, Ellen Mayberry.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Oct. 11, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home, with honors presented by the Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 11, at the funeral home. Bro. Billy Lowery will officiate.
Brent Copeland, Bruce Savage, Hunter Copeland, Terry Copeland, Willie Hart, and Michael Minnear will serve the family as pallbearers.
