John Clark Strode, 76, of Sparta, passed away Feb. 22, 2023, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.
John was born June 26, 1946, in Cookeville.
He retired from Wagner Electric after 35 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors, hunting and gardening.
John was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Clark Strode Sr.; mother, Aline Reedy Strode Wood, who died on Sept. 16, 2022; and a brother, Elsie Strode.
Survivors include his companion of over 40 years and mother of his son, Glenda Donahue; son, Jonathan Scott Donahue; grandson, Tallen Donahue and fiancée Marlaina; great-granddaughter, Brynlee Donahue; stepdaughter. Stephanie Donahue; step-grandson, Zach Brown; two step-great-grandchildren, Keely and Dallas Brown; siblings Mary E. Cullom, Georgia L. Lusk (Charles), Margaret A. Grayson, Mildred R. Gist, Desaree Terry (Ricky), Alicia A. Dibrell (Terry), Rhonda K. Strode, Ronald R. Strode, Charlotte D. Elligan (Leon); special cousin and best friend, Ronald “Dodad” Strode; baby girl, Lucky; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Feb. 26, 2023, at Hunter Funeral Home. Burial, with full military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard, followed in Old Union Cemetery. Glenn Leftwich officiated. Special music was provided by Regina Coonrod Pullin.
Tony Strode, Ronald Strode, Jason Strode, Ronnie Reedy, Byron Hamilton, and Ronald Strode served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were James Coonrod, Donald Strode, Tallen Donahue. and Tim Elligan
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
