John Wayne Kirby, to some known as “Poppa John” and to trucker friends as “Sundown,” passed from this world into his heavenly home the morning of Sept. 28, 2020.

Mr. Kirby was born Oct. 8, 1941, in Quebeck.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, “fill-in” dad, and friend to many others.

He was preceded in death by his father, James “Willard” Kirby and mother, Jewell Jackson Kirby, and his wife and school sweetheart, Betty Roberts Kirby.

He leaves behind his second wife, Norma Jackson Inlow Kirby; his sons, James Kirby (Anya), Johnny Kirby (Clarissa); daughter, Shelly Kirby Yates (Robert); stepson, Allen Inlow and family; stepdaughter, Jeannie Inlow Kidd Welch and family;  granddaughters, Mandi Davis Randolph (Tristan), Savannah Yates Holman (William), Amethyst Yates; great-grandchildren, Kolten, Alex, and John Randolph, Anabella, Mason, and Jaxson Holman; sister, Shirley Kirby Poston; and grand-pup, Boris Kirby.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Oct. 3, 2020, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Lower Cherry Creek Cemetery. Mandi Davis Randolph will officiate. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Oct. 3, at the funeral home..

Pallbearers will be Lynn Johnson, Greg Sims, Ray Fox, Cody Roberts, Josh Roberts, Matthew Brown Fox, and William Holman

Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
