On Jan. 25, 2023, the White County High School JROTC conducted a hard-fought Cadet of the Month selection board. Competing Cadets were selected by their respective Cadet Chain of Command and approved by the JROTC instructors to be allowed to compete. Cadets were graded on several areas to include uniform inspection, individual drill, and answering Cadet knowledge questions.

The Cadet of the Month winner for First-Year Cadet is Cadet Corporal Christian Dowdy.

“This is the second time Cadet Dowdy has won Cadet of the Month for the Warrior Battalion,” Lt. Col. Aaron Johnson, White County’s JROTC director, said. “Because of his performance last semester, Cadet Dowdy was selected for, and now serves as, a Team Leader in Bravo Company.”

Cadet Sergeant First Class Jayden Keith won Cadet of the Month for the Second-Year Cadet.

Cadet Keith serves as the Platoon Sergeant in Charlie Company. Cadet Keith previously was a member of the JROTC Rifle Team and Color Guard and was recognized by being awarded the National Sojourners Medal for being a top performer in JROTC his freshman year. This year, Cadet Keith is an active member of the JROTC Raider Team and Drill Team. Additionally, Cadet Keith is an active member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church and shoots competition shotgun for the White County Woodsmen 4-H Shotgun Team.

“Both Cadets are outstanding examples of the best the WCHS JROTC has to offer,” Lt. Col. Johnson said. “Congratulations Cadets!”
