Latter-day Saints missionaries serve in Sparta

Elders Cameron Alleman and Braydon Ludlow were called to serve as full-time missionaries in the Tennessee Knoxville mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They are currently serving in Sparta.

Alleman is from Las Vegas, Nevada, and has been on his mission for two months.  He studied Spanish as part of his on-line training for his mission.  He chose to serve a mission. Allerman said he  "…wanted to come closer to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I, as well, wanted to find out for myself who I am and who I want to become in my life."

Ludlow is from Sandy, Utah, and has been serving in Tennessee for 14 months.  He decided to serve a mission because he "knew how much having the fullness of the restored Gospel in [my] life had blessed me, and I wanted others to have the same joy and blessings."  Also, ‘the 'Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ' played a big role in getting me to go on a mission.  It has helped me to get closer to our Savior, especially as I read it with the Bible."

Due to COVID-19, most of the work accomplished by full-time missionaries is done on line through Facebook and other apps rather than contacting people at their homes.  Missionaries share the same message but just through technological mediums.  Ludlow said, "COVID-19 was definitely a shock! It was weird at first as we switched from all in-person to all online.  But, as we have adjusted, we have seen the blessings from it."

Alleman was originally called to serve in the Argentina Buenos Aires South mission but remained in the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  He said, "The missionary work is much different due to the regulations that have been put into place due to the virus.  It entails mostly finding people who love to talk about religion and of Christ through social media rather than knocking on doors."

As a missionary, Ludlow hopes that he can "become more converted to Jesus Christ.  I hope I can guide others to that path and help them see the love that God has for them as His children. We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.  God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” (1 John 4:16).

Alleman said the purpose of his mission "is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ through faith in Jesus Christ, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and, ultimately, enduring to the end to live with our Father in Heaven and our families again."

Ludlow shares his testimony about Jesus Christ: "Through diligent study and earnest prayers, I have come to know that Christ is our personal Savior.  I am so grateful for his atoning sacrifice and want to continue to grow and become even more converted to Him.  I love my Savior, and I know He lives."

Jesus can "sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:15-16).  "I know that Jesus loves every single one of us as individuals. I know that He died for all of us that we could become like him one day.  I know that He has felt all of the things that trouble us in this life and has experienced every pain we would ever know. He lives and is the perfect example," said Alleman.
