Leavy Thomas Ward, 80, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 23, 2020, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta.
Mr. Ward was born April 30, 1940, in Tabor City, North Carolina, to Leavy Johnson Ward and Earline Spivey Ward.
He was an avid fisherman and worked several years at Precision Molding, in Sparta. He also worked in construction as a roofer.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn Milligan and Mabel Gore.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Maynard Ward, of Sparta; son, Jason Ward, of Sparta; three grandchildren, Jaylon, Bailee, Pax Ward; sisters, Alice Werner, of Wisconsin, Pauline Worley, of North Carolina; and brother, Bud Ward, of Wisconsin.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Sept. 26, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in the Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Sept. 25, at the funeral home.
