WCHS ACADEMIC SPOTLIGHT

Ledford plans to pursue a career in education

Posted

Haley Ledford enjoys school so much that she plans on returning after she graduates – but with plans for sitting at the big desk.

The White County High School junior has aspirations of becoming a teacher one day, and, while she says she has enjoyed her time as a Warrior, she hasn’t decided whether she will return to high school or teach at the elementary level. Ledford just knows that she wants to make a difference in the lives of future students.

“Her future is open to many positive prospects,” Juonna Thompson, who teaches English at WCHS, said. “As a junior at White County High School, she continues to strive for high achievement. Her positive attitude in my English III class and her input in class discussions is further evidence of her scholastic endeavors. I attempt to make connections with students in class, and Haley makes that easy with her personality.”

Ledford, who has mapped out a future academic career that includes both Motlow State Community College and Tennessee Technological University, currently has a 4.0 and is a member of a variety of clubs at WCHS. She said that spending time with her peers in extra-curricular opportunities offered through the high school is one of her favorite things about being a Warrior.

“Haley Ledford stays busy with WCHS Band and is also a member of Future Teachers of America,” Thompson said. “Her GPA not only makes her eligible for the National Beta Club, which she joined in her sophomore year, but it also places her in the top 25 for the class of 2024.”

There is no doubt that Ledford will continue her academic success and, should she stay on her current path, be an inspiration and provide motivation for her future students.
