Lemon Fred Farris, 95, passed away peacefully at his home, on Sept. 13, 2020.

Mr. Farris was born July 7, 1925, in Cookeville, to Lemon Farris and Nancy Bell Cunningham Farris.

He attended Salem School, farmed, and broke mules. He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served at Pearl Harbor, during World War II. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. He served as an elder and song leader at the Antioch Church of Christ and later Willow Avenue Church of Christ. He was very active with the Happy Haven Home for Children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Farris; siblings, Clay (Lena) Farris, Guy (Geneva) Farris, Daniel Farris, George (Mary Ed) Farris, Harvey (Peggy) Farris, Robert (Bea) Farris, Margaret (James) Maxwell; and brother-in-law, Don Agee.

Survivors include two sons, Royce Wayne Farris (wife Carol), of Sparta, Floyd Dennis Farris, of Cookeville; sister, Irene Agee; sister-in-law, Rozelle Farris; three grandchildren, Royce Wayne Farris II, Jacoby Wade Farris (wife Melissa), Cameron Desmond Farris (fiancée Katie); and four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Mikaela, Landon, Tyler Farris, and Ciara Roberts.

Graveside service, with military honors, will be 11 a.m., Sept. 16, 2020, at Cunningham Cemetery, in White County. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
