Leslie “Pistol” Taylor, 68, went home to be with the Lord, on Sept.7, 2021, while at Saint Thomas Mid Town Medical Center.

“Pistol” was born Aug. 16, 1953, in Memphis, to John Lewis Taylor Sr. and Geraldine Taylor.

He graduated Manansas High School, in 1971. Shortly after graduating high school, he enrolled in the University of Tennessee at Martin. In 1972, he left college to serve our country in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller where he served for over 20 years and retired. He loved collecting movies and playing solitaire and to keep his yard in perfect appearance.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Augusta Washington, Bessie Gatewood, Ola Duncan.

“Pistol” is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Taylor; brother, John Lewis Taylor Jr.; stepchildren, Andrew Blake Young, Bridgett Le Natt Washington; sisters-in-law, Doris (Kirk) Young, Mary Davis, Vera (Charles) Darvin; brother-in-law, Shawn Gardenhire; special niece, Ann Taylor; and also a host of loved family and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sept. 15, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home. Butch Bess will officiate. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Sept. 15, at the funeral home.
