Sparta-White County Volunteer Rescue Squad received a call at approximately 10:40 a.m., March 20, 2022, about a male subject who had fallen and injured his leg in the Virgin Falls State Natural Area, in eastern White County. According to the Rescue Squad, it took approximately five hours to complete the rescue.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped [Sunday] at Virgin Falls,” said Ray Brown, Sparta-White County Volunteer Rescue Squad chief. “This was a successful rescue of a hiker with a knee injury. We were able to construct two different rope systems to safely get the patient across the gorge to the transportation area.”
