Marietta Effner entered the Kingdom of Heaven, on July 28, 2020, at the age of 64.

She was born Nov. 19, 1955, at home, in Port Jervis, New York.

Mrs. Effner spent a large portion of her life in Port Jervis, attending high school and joining the Ladies Auxiliary Rescue Squad, in 1982.

She held different job titles throughout her life, including a sales representative at Fort Gordon Army Base, in Augusta, Georgia. In addition, she was a dedicated volunteer for M.M.F., in Cookeville, Tennessee, before retirement, in 2011.

Mrs. Effner was a devout Christian woman and didn’t know a stranger. Her most proud role in her life was that of a mother.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Rose Platt; husband, James Effner; and grandson, Michael Hunter.

She is celebrated by her oldest son, Donald Piatt and his children, D.J., Corey, Hannah, Danielle; her only daughter, Heather Hunter, of Smithville, and her children, Olivia and Jimmy Santilli, Macie and Jamar Royster, Albert and Nicholas Hunter; and her youngest son, James and his wife, Aliesha, and their children, Jaxon, Emily, Mylie, Haylie. She was also a great-grandmother to five.

 A memorial service will be noon-3 p.m., Aug. 1, 2020 at Thurman Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 3 p.m.
