Michiel Stewart Palmer Sr., 68, of Sparta, passed away July 24, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Michiel was born July 26, 1953, in Crossville, to Jack Trail Palmer and Ella Edith Davis Palmer.
He was a retired sales contractor for Walmart. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved grilling, smoking meat, and cooking. He will be remembered as a Jack-of-all-trades. He was talented with mechanical and carpentry skills and started many projects.
Michiel was a former scout leader. With all of his interests and activities in which he was involved, his favorite activity was being with his family and active in any event that involved his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Hodgson, and his brothers, Wayne Palmer and Dennis Palmer. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Konda Darlene Ball Palmer; two sons, Michiel Stewart Palmer II and wife Cynthia, Brandon Wayne Palmer and wife Grace; grandchildren, Zane Palmer, Chris Foster-Palmer, Madison Henry, Shealynn Palmer, Vivian Palmer Ezekiel Palmer, Gabriel Palmer; great-granddaughter, Paisley Henry; and two brothers, Jack Palmer and wife Margaret and Bruce Palmer (Sandy Strader).
Funeral service will be 5 p.m., July 27, 2022, at Hunter Funeral Home. Everett Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m., July 27, at the funeral home.
Hunter Funeral Home has been entrusted with Michiel's cremation at the conclusion of his funeral service.
Honorary pallbearers are Zane Palmer, Chris Foster-Palmer, Madison Henry, Shealynn Palmer, Vivian Palmer, Ezekiel Palmer, Gabriel Palmer, Jack Palmer, and Bruce Palmer
