The White County Middle School Warrior baseball team won 15-9, on March 9, completing the sweep of Upperman which included a 9-8 win, on March 7.

After jumping out to a 4-0 lead, the Warriors found themselves down by 5 heading into the top of the fourth inning of the conference matchup, but resiliency and aggressiveness led to a big come-back win.

After leading off with a single, Jordan Quintanilla was driven in by Kolt Norris to get the rally started for the Warriors. Gage Walker and Kaden Seibers reached base safely, bringing up the Warriors’ offensive leader, Cole Gentry, who doubled both Walker and Seibers in bringing the Warriors within 2. Cole Sims reached base on a walk, and then he and Gentry scored after a hard hit single into right-center field by Carter Seal, tying the game.

In the top half of the sixth, the Warriors saw Griffin Adams and Sims reach base safely, bringing up Tucker Pinion who came up with a clutch single into right-center field, scoring both Adams and Sims to regain the lead. After another hit by Quintanilla and walks to Walker and Seibers, Gentry once again came through with a hard hit single up the middle, scoring 2. Walks led to another run and the Warriors ended the top half of the 6th up 15-9, which was the final score of the game.

Seibers, who entered in the third inning to pitch for Warriors, picked up the win, shutting Upperman down for the remainder of the game, surrendering only two hits and recording five strikeouts, not allowing a run in the final three innings of the game.

The Warriors racked up nine hits and 12 stolen bases in the game. Gentry, Pinion, Quintanilla, and Seibers all had multiple hits. Pinion led the team with four stolen bases, and Gentry led the Warriors with four runs batted in.

The Warriors are now 2-0 on the season and in conference play.
