Minute with the Mayor

I have been asked several times about the railroad crossing on Highway 111 near Fred Hill Road.  It is a very rough “crossing area” as you travel on that road traveling in both directions.

The street under the rails has been upgraded and repaired several times. When that happens the rails also move as the ground problem worsens. That creates an issue when a car or truck travels over the rails.

To the best of my knowledge, a train car has not traveled over that crossing since the year 2018.  The decision has been made to remove that crossing area on Highway 111.

We do not have a set date on when the process of removing that rail will begin. This will be a coordinated effort between the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the railroad authority that governs the railroad. Until then, please be mindful that it is a rough crossing area, and we must continue to drive safely as we travel.

Be safe out there. Finish strong.
