Minute with the Mayor

We have been asked about the paving and milling process that is going on at Gaines Street.  Gaines Street has been paved before, and, as the paving process is done, the layers of asphalt continue to build up.  When that happens, the transition points from the driveways and the sidewalks get higher.

We (the city) felt like this needed to be addressed, and that is why we included the milling of Gaines Street and a couple other roads as well. When the milling and paving is complete, the residents that enter that road should see a difference when traveling.

Another area of concern on Gaines Street is the sidewalks.  We are in the process of repairing those sidewalks and making them ADA compliant so those residents and citizens that use those walkways will not have to enter the road as they move about the area.

We are doing what we can to make Sparta one of the best towns in the state.  Thank you for your patience as we move forward with our infrastructure plans.
