Kristen Wright was recently awarded the Motlow Student of Distinction award, which comes with a $50 gift card courtesy of Citizens Bank, in Sparta.

Wright, who is still a senior at White County High School, has used Motlow State Community College’s Sparta Campus as a place to get a head start on her future. Due to a collaboration between MSCC’s Sparta Campus and White County High School, Wright has been able to participate in dual enrollment classes, earning credits in six different college classes while still in high school.

Wright has credits for American History 2010 and 2020, Psychology 1030, Intro to Statistics, Theater Arts, and English 1010, all of which will give her an advantage when she moves forward with her plans of attending Tennessee Technological University in the fall. Wright will pursue a degree in accounting and later move on to getting a master’s degree in business administration. Beyond college, Wright would like to attain a CPA license and look for a career in a university setting.

“Kirsten is a diligent and self-motivated student who is focused on her personal and educational goals,” Amy Hawkins, a faculty member at White County High School, said. “She is kind, compassionate, and responsible.”

Wright said she has made numerous friends during her time at WCHS, and she feels that many of those friendships will last long into her future. As a member of school’s writing club, BETA club, and Future Teachers of America Club, as well as being a midfielder on the Warriorettes soccer team, Wright has spent her time surrounding herself with like-minded individuals, which makes those friendships she has made more meaningful and connected to her future.

“I’m thankful for my time here at White County High School and for the opportunity to get a jump start on my college career through the dual enrollment program with Motlow,” Wright said. “I have really enjoyed the experiences I have had here.”
