Murel Dean Allen, 82, of Sparta, passed away June 7, 2021, in Cookeville.
Mr. Allen was born May 1, 1939, in Whitwell, to William Albert and Tressie McHone Allen.
He married his wife, Joyce, on Sept. 30, 1961.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joyce Allen, of Sparta; children, Angela Conatser (Ricky), Tracy Newberry (Bill), Jason Allen (Wendy); grandchildren, Amanda Weston (Matthew), Aaron Conatser, Eric Newberry (Samantha), Michael Newberry (Amy), Paul Gibson, Aylinne Allen, Evalyn Allen, Payton Anderson, Jessica Kirby (Chris), Chase Kinsey; great-grandchildren, Baylor Weston, Beckett Weston, Lilly Newberry, Jacoby Newberry, Zeke Newberry, Orin Newberry, Arabella Gibson, Zoey-Lynn Bittner, Chole Bittner; and sister, Ruth Turner, of Whitwell.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., June 14, 2021, at Christian Life First Assembly of God, in Sparta, with burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Brent Tevebaugh and Danny Denning will officiate. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-2 p.m., June 14, at the church.
