Nancy Marie Green Brown, better known to many as Marie, age 89, formerly of Nashville, passed away Jan. 7, 2025, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville.
Marie was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Warner and Nancy Mudd Green.
She had a career of over 40 years at Bellsouth Telephone, in Nashville. She enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores. She enjoyed many hours working on puzzles of any kind. Marie will be remembered for being an avid fan of the "Peanuts" comics, especially Snoopy and Charlie Brown. She was a member of Glencliff United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby and Donald Green.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Johnnie Dale Brown; stepchildren, Johnnie Ray (Kathleen) Denton, Leslie (Michael) Yates, Vickie Denton and Mark Ray, Stephen (Sherrie) Denton; nephews, Alan (Lorie) Green, Darren (Teresa) Green; seven step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m., Jan. 14, 2025, at Hunter Funeral home. The family will receive friends after 2 p.m., Jan. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be Jan. 15, in Nashville.
