Next College Town Weekends events series features concerts, movies, and much more

 Tennessee Tech is set to promote its next College Town Weekend, with events starting Thursday, Oct. 14.

College Town Weekends is a new series from Tech’s student affairs division that combines both on campus and off campus events into one list and shares that information with students in various ways, including posters, digital signs, table tents, door hangers and online at tntech.edu/weekends.

For the fourth College Town Weekend, events begin on Thursday with the SGA SOLO Concert. This year’s artist is Ludacris with Special Guest Bryce Vine. With their Tech ID’s, students were able to get two free tickets to the concert. The SOLO Concert will take place Thursday, Oct. 14th at 8 p.m. in the Hooper Eblen Center (HOOP).

An off-campus option in the Cookeville community for students is the Classic Cinema at the Cookeville Depot. Students can see a free full-length movie under the stars Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Students are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to enjoy the film outside.

Taking place on Tech campus, the Campus Rec Escape Room is another interactive weekend activity for Golden Eagles. Offered at the Marc L. Burnett Student Recreation and Fitness Center, students can spend time with friends and test their skills on Saturday, Oct. 16 starting at 10 a.m.

Also happening on Tech’s campus is the Upper Cumberland Haunted Half 13.1 on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7 a.m. This half marathon run is available for solo runners and relay teams. Costumes are encouraged, and proceeds benefit WCTE PBS.

As the fall leaves begin to change, students can also get outdoors and enjoy the season with equipment available for rent through the university’s outdoor equipment rental program. The program provides camping, backpacking, climbing, kayaking, and paddle boarding equipment for students at low costs.
