Ola Nadine McConathy Bain, 88, of Walling, passed away March 27, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.
Born June 12, 1936, in Oxford, Alabama, she was the daughter of Roy and Mary Dean McConathy, the second of eight children. The family moved to Chattanooga soon after her birth where she attended Louie Sanderson Elementary, Lookout Junior High, and graduated from Chattanooga Central High School, in 1954.
Marrying in 1955, Nadine and Quinton raised their family in Red Bank and were founding members of Calvary Bible Church. After retiring to Walling, in 1992, they were members of Grace Presbyterian Church, in Cookeville.
With grace and determination, she was a wonderful and loving wife, daughter, mother, and NaNa who provided her family all the comforts of home and the knowledge of Christ. She loved baking, especially at Christmas. Having an artistic flair, she enjoyed knitting, quilting, and ceramics, even winning a few ribbons (including a Best of Show) at the county fair.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Quinton Bain; her parents; sister, Mildred Hudgens; and brother, Robert McConathy.
Nadine is survived by her son, Roy Bain, of Walling; daughter, Carol Bain, of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Benay (Mark) Lewis, Teresa Bain; great-grandchildren, Madison Lewis, Amberlynn Lewis, Quinton Lewis, Angelina Whited; sister, Rebecca (Pete) Rohrer, of Wichita, Kansas; brothers ,Erskine McConathy, of Ringgold, Georgia; Herman McConathy, of Chattanooga, Sam McConathy, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Bo (Barbara) McConathy, of Yelm, Washington; brother-in-law, John Bain, of Walling; sister-in-law, Mary Roberson, of Chattanooga; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was noon, April 2, 2025, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Norris-Bain-Pollard Cemetery, in Walling. Step Morgan and Andy Berg officiated.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
