Operation Christmas Child at Hampton's Crossroads Baptist

Posted

Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church has participated in Operation Christmas Child for several years. Operation Christmas Child is part of Samaritan’s Purse, a ministry started by Billy Graham’s son, Franklin Graham. Anyone can participate in this ministry, from single people to large groups. Shoeboxes are filled with items such as hygiene articles, school supplies, and toys. The shoeboxes are collected at drop off sites, in mid-November, then travel to processing centers around the country.  The shoeboxes then travel to over 100 countries and territories around the world, sharing God’s love for each of us to millions of children each year. This will be the first gift for many of these children. The children then have the choice to participate in a 12- week bible study where they learn about Jesus and God’s love. The children also receive a Bible in their language.

At Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church, we start collecting  items for the shoeboxes, in January. We also have several fundraisers to raise money for the shipping costs. We had a goal to collect 1,500 shoeboxes. Tornados and COVID-19 arrived, and fundraisers could not be held. But God provided the means through the church members and businesses to obtain the items and the shipping cost for the shoeboxes.  At a time that could have been full of stress and nothing feeling normal anymore, hope was found in knowing God remains the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow in His love for us. It has been a blessing for Him to use the congregation of Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church to collect 1,526 shoeboxes for His glory.
