Peggy Kathyleen Bain Hensley, 75, of Sparta, passed away May 10, 2025, at Erlanger Hospital, in Chattanooga.
Peggy was born March 7, 1950, in Smithville.
She was a homemaker in every sense of the word, from working in her garden to making quilts for her family. She also loved to take care of her animals: Tippy, Penelope, and Bear. She enjoyed reading, fishing and watching her favorite show on television. Peggy was proud of the mechanic work she did in her earlier years, but she was most proud of being Nanny for her family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Thomas Edward "Tommy" Hensley, who died March 11, 2019; father, J.E. Bain; mother, Joyce Atnip Ratliff; grandsons Keilin Thomas Hensley, Carson Neil Hensley; and numerous siblings.
Survivors include her sons, Marty Hensley, Edward (Farrah) Hensley, all of Sparta; special sons, Anthony (T.O.) Officer, of Sparta;
grandchildren, Johnna (Bobby) Wright, Jenna Hensley and Kyle Johnson, C.J. Hensley and Lauren Davis, Peyton Hensley and L.J. McDonnough, Haley (Shawn) Watson, Elijah Hensley, Rami Hensley and Charlie Hensley; eight great-grandchildren, Larry, David, Melinda, and Johnnie Bain; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 1 p.m., May 13, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Johnny Hood officiated.
C.J. Hensley, Shawn Watson, Bobby Wright, Elijah Hensley, Randy Jones, Jimmy Savage, Derek LaFever, and Charles Rutherford served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Bain and Ed Gentry.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
