Phillip Ray Murdock, 54, of Sparta, passed away Aug. 11, 2020, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Murdock was born Sept. 23, 1965, in Sparta.

His work career included being a longtime insurance agent and a White County school bus driver. At the time of his death, he was the office manager at Truck Pro.

He was always eager and happy to help friends and family in any way he could. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed working on cars, whether for himself or for family. As a car enthusiast, he was an avid NASCAR fan and car club member. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Mr. Murdock was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Murdock.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Kimberly Saylors Murdock, of Sparta; stepson, Kalland Saylors, of Sparta; mother, Louise Murdock (Bob) Baker, of Sparta; two sisters, Deborah Emery, of Sparta, Joanna (Mike) Herman, of Smyrna; four brothers, Mike (Gayle) Murdock, Roger Murdock, Jonathan Murdock, all of Sparta, Paul (Tammy) Murdock, of Monterey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Aug. 16, 2020, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Saylors Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Aug. 15, at the funeral home. Bobby Moore and Paul Allen will officiate.

Donnie Daniels, Mark Ray, Richard Saylors, Tommy England, Steven Keen, Brian Murdock, and Billy Lee will serve the family as pallbearers.
