At approximately 8:40 a.m., White County E-911 received a call about a landing gear failure on a plane that was attempting to land a Upper Cumberland Regional Airport.
White County Emergency Management Agency, North End Volunteer Fire Department, Cherry Creek Fire Volunteer Fire Department, Sparta Fire Department, White County Emergency Medical Service, Sparta-White County Rescue Squad, Tennessee Highway Patrol, White County Sheriff’s Office, and Life Force Medical Helicopter 2 were all staged at the airport as a Fixed Wing Single Engine Cessna 172F approached the runway after having lost a portion of its landing gear on takeoff.
The plane, piloted by Matt England, of White County, landed safely.l There were no injuries to either individual inside the aircraft.
