Ralph L. Benningfield, 92, of Sparta, passed away July 20, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Mr. Benningfield was born July 19, 1927, in Taylor County, Kentucky, to Sammie T. Benningfield and Rinnie Short Benningfield

He was a Korean War veteran and a retired Baptist minister, with 64 years of service in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Mr. Benningfield was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Norma Jarobe Benningfield; one brother, Glenn (Shirley) Benningfield; and five sisters, Jennie (Billy Gene) Underwood, Majael (Clyde) Hutchins, Dewel (Woodrow) Richerson, Madlyn (Henry) Parrott, Ruby (Wilson) Morris.

Survivors include his children, Sibyl (Sam) Cain, of Waco, Kentucky, Doug (Karen) Benningfield, of Sparta, Mark Benningfield, of Sparta; grandchildren, Kim Cain, of Waco Kentucky, Travis (Kim) Cain, of Berea, Kentucky, Chad (Elizabeth) Cain, of Waco, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Hope Cain, Tyler (Kenzie) Cain, Sierra (Joe) Redmond, Benton Cain, Caroline Cain; great-great-grandchildren, Braxton Cain, Knox Cain, one great-great-granddaughter expected in September; siblings, Eldon (Judy) Benningfield, Shirley Coffey (whose husband, Thomas, is deceased), Juanita (Lynwood) Newton, all of Campbellsville, Kentucky; and one special sister-in-law, Ruth Conder, of Lexington, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., July 23, 2019, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Tim Bumbalough and James Hickey will officiate. Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m., July 22, at the funeral home.
