On April 28, 2022, Sparta-White County Rescue Squad was dispatched to Holman Road about a lawnmower accident that involved a male subject who had accidentally driven off a 40-foot bluff.

Rescue Squad members requested mutual aid from Cumberland County Rescue Squad to obtain additional manpower and rope gear.

According to Charlie Tollison, Sparta-White County Rescue Squad assistant chief, when rescue personal arrived, they found this would be a very technical rescue and started setting up multiple rope systems to get a medical team to the patient.

“Technical rope crews from White County and Cumberland County worked tirelessly together to complete this technical rescue,” Tollison said. “At this time, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim. Thank you to White County E-911 and all that were on scene: White County Emergency Management Agency, White County Sheriff’s Office, BonDeCroft Volunteer Fire Department, Eastland Volunteer Fire Department, White County Emergency Medical Service, City of Crossville Fire Department, Cumberland County Fire Department, Life Force medical helicopter, and our members of Sparta-White County Rescue Squad.”
