On June 9, 2022, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Sparta-White County Rescue Squad responded to a motor vehicle crash on Old New Hope Road, in White County.

According to the rescue squad, the driver was in his “Dwarf Race Car” and lost control and left the roadway, going down an approximately 15-foot drop-off into a creek.

“Fortunately, a neighbor went for a walk and found him some 30 minutes after the wreck,” said Charlies Tollison, assistant chief Sparta-White County Rescue Squad and state vice president Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads.

According to Tollison, no extrication was required, but a simple rope system was established, and the victim was pulled up the embankment by personnel on the scene. The subject was then airlifted by medical helicopter Life Force and transported to a Nashville hospital.

Tollison extended thanks to those on the scene: White County Sheriff Department deputies,  Cassville Volunteer Fire Department, White County Emergency Medical service, neighborhood residents, and members of Sparta-White County Rescue Squad.
