Rescue Squad responds to scene of semi wreck

Sparta-White County Rescue Squad responded to a semi wreck, at 12:36 a.m., April 25, 2022, on Roller Coaster Road, in Sparta.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found an overturned trailer containing 36 very large cattle. According to Charlie Tollison, assistant Sparta-White County Rescue Squad chief and Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads vice president, the driver was not injured, but eight of the cows were deceased at the scene.

Tollison said it took approximately six hours to remove all the cattle.
