Robert “Bobby” Lester Bain, 61, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 10, 2021, at his home surrounded, by his loved ones.

Bobby was born Jan. 20, 1960, in Sparta, to L.V. Bain and Faye Smith Bain.

He graduated White County High School, in 1978. Upon graduation, he started a 35-year career with UPS. Bobby was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church, along with being a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, golfing, and farming. He was a huge sports fan, from White County Athletics to UT football. Bobby loved his family and was always a supporter and encourager to them.

He liked the simple things in life most, like practicing baseball/softball in the front yard with his children and sitting on the back porch (his “happy place”) enjoying nature. Bobby loved coaching several of his son’s baseball teams. He took pride in all his teams, especially his 11-12-year-old All Stars team that was Tennessee District 2 Champs, in 2003.

A special thanks to Dr. Rich and team, in Atlanta, for the amazing love, care, and support given to him the past eight years. They helped to extend his life well beyond expectations. Also, to our church, family, and our friends for always supporting and praying for us.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Lester and Emmadel Bain and Robert and Hazel Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Kathy Davis Bain; his children, their spouses, and grandchildren; two sisters; a brother; several nieces, a nephew, great-nieces, and a great-nephew.

Hunter Funeral Home has been entrusted with Bobby’s cremation.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m., Sept. 15, 2021, at Hunter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 2-6 p.m., Sept. 15, at the funeral home.
