Sandra Marie MacKay Amaral, 75, passed away Dec. 16, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Holden, Massachusetts, to Robert and Evelyn MacKay.
She graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, in 1963. After graduation, she attended the St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing and served in the Army Nurse Corps. She served others as a nurse for over 50 years, working in hospitals and caring for the elderly.
She was a devoted Christian and attended Osterville Baptist Church while living on Cape Cod and The River Community Church while living in Cookeville.
Survivors include her brother, Donald (Sue) MacKay, of Manasquan, New Jersey; sons, Eric (Susan) Amaral, of Seminole, Florida, Brian Amaral, of Cookeville; and daughters, Jennifer (Garrett) Jenks,, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Stephanie Rolfe, of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
She loved being nana to Allison, Andrew, Annika, Aidan, Jack, and Luke, as well as Aunt Sandy to numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was also godmother to her, Katie MacKay Krusznis, of Toms River, New Jersey.
Celebration of Life for Sandra Marie MacKay Amaral will be 2 p.m., June 1, 2021, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, in Cookeville. Bro. Steve Tiebout officiate. Inurnment will follow the service at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be noon-2 p.m., June 1, 2021, at the funeral home.
