Dear SpartaLive,

If you are opposed to Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency converting over 2,000 acres of hardwoods at the Bridgestone Centennial Wilderness Area to savanna (leaving only two trees per acre,) please attend the meeting scheduled at 6 p.m., Oct. 4,  at Sparta Civic Center, 514 E. Bockman Way.

TWRA plans on cutting the trees from the paved Eastland Road down Scott’s Gulf Road, past the Virgin Falls parking area and all the way to Welch Point, down to the Caney Fork River. Hunters have pointed to 3,000 acres of nonindigenous pine only 2.5 miles away, also managed by TWRA, and asked the agency to use that land instead.

You are also invited to go to SaveTheHardwoods.com and follow the instructions to post your opposition.

Thank you,

Friends of “Save The Hardwoods”
