Saxophonist Derek Brown to perform Nov. 30

Saxophonist Derek Brown will perform a solo concert at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30 and then perform that evening with the Jazz Ensemble in Tennessee Tech’s Wattenbarger Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

Brown’s one-of-a-kind solo “BEATBoX SAX” project has exploded across the world music scene. He has more than 30 million views across social media and has appeared on international television and NPR’s Weekend Edition.

Brown has performed solo concerts in all 50 United States and more than 25 countries around the world with almost 200 total international shows.  He is known for his boundless energy on stage, creative audience interaction and musical depth.

His continuing “BEATBoX SAX” music videos and tutorials on YouTube are epopular among saxophonists and music lovers alike.  He has over 150,000 Youtube subscriptions which has led to endorsements with Legere, JodyJazz, P.Mauriat, BG France, and AKG.

He crosses different genres from jazz to classical to funk, without the aid of looping or electronic effects, and is known for his unique playing style.  

Admission to Center Stage events is free unless otherwise noted.
